Fly Albion Australia and New ZealandFrom the land of the Kangaroo, Wombat and Koala to the magical land of Volcanoes, Fjords, Kiwis and the Kakapo both countries offer different aspects of flying Down Under. Australia is a vast island continent which is surrounded by tropical and cold waters made up of different habitats from jungle, desert, mountains and bush. New Zealand, on the other hand, offers much of the same but the South Island offers more than a magical quality of Flora and Fauna it also has a reputation of living in the past. So much so that film makers have used the panoramic scenery in many epic movies. Albion is present in both countries. Based in Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney, Australia, Albion flies passengers and cargo internationally and domestically using the famed Jumbo B747-400FCombi, Airbus A300-600 and the favourite Boeing 737-800 Dreamliner. All short, medium and long haul flights in and out of Australia star and end in Sydney, the Hub of Australia. In New Zealand we have the Dash 8-4Q flying out of the Capital, Auckland mainly serving the North Island acting as a commuter service to many outlying airfields and stations helping the communities to stay in touch with each other. In Christchurch is based the ATR72-500 serving mainly the South Island and all the communities scattered around this magical place and is being used extensively for the sightseeing market. New Zealand offers the pilot a vastly different way to fly than the normal big jet guys. They need grit and determination to see that their flying skills are honed to the most difficult of situations that are encountered out there. Flying in New Zealand is a rewarding experience that will add to the portfolio of all who fly the South Island routes. Both Australia and NZ are probably two of the friendliest areas in the world of aviation that pilots enjoy flying in not only because of the inhabitants but because of the way of life Down Under is more relaxed than in the busy northern hemisphere. Detach yourselves down here for a month and you will find out. |
